The Department of Environment and Natural Resources, with the support from Forest Foundation Philippines, the Government of Canada, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the NbS Support Network, launched the country’s first national-level Nature-based Solutions (NbS) policy at the USBONG Transdisciplinary Forum on Nature-based Solutions last June 30, 2026, mandating the integration of nature-based approaches into the country’s climate, biodiversity, and disaster risk reduction programs. The USBONG NbS Forum marked a commitment to growing and sustaining conversations on NbS as one of the vital approaches to addressing interconnected societal challenges. USBONG brought together diverse stakeholders  to deepen understanding of high-integrity, gender-responsive NbS in the Philippine context, strengthen connections, and advance systems, partnerships, and enabling conditions needed for sustained and scalable action.
